“Can nature be the frame of a picture?”
The Art of Timber Framing
Timber framing is a traditional method of building that relies on wooden joinery, fastened with hardwood pins. This style of building stands the test of time, with structures commonly enduring for hundreds of years in Vermont and the world over. Timber frames provide us non-toxic, locally sourced and crafted, functional spaces that inspire feelings of wonder and comfort.
The timber frames that Yeoman Joinery curates are an extension of an ancient craft tradition. Mortise-and-tenon joints are carefully cut in timbers to produce durable and beautiful buildings. The craft of timber framing requires few industrial inputs, instead relying on time invested by skilled craftspeople. Yeoman Joinery is honored to be able to share this natural way of building with the world.
